Coming to Boston

January 14, 2012

I've always known I wanted to be married some day.  When I moved to Nashville in 2008, I decided I would give it 5 years.  At the end of those 5 years, if I was still single, I was heading back to Jackson, MS to live not too far from my parents and enjoy living in what was, to me, the most comfortable place in the world.

It's January 2012, and I'm not headed to Jackson anytime soon.  Instead, I met my love Galen, got engaged summer 2010, married and moved to Boston with him in March 2011, and we had a baby boy in December 2011.  Yes, it can happen, just like that!

There is much more for me to say, but this is a good place to start.

  1. How precious. I am a friend of your mother's since my retirement in Dec 2006 when I joined her Bible studies. She has known about our Morgan since that time. Today, Morgan is 10 years old--cannot believe it. I want to share with you what our son posted about Morgan on her 10th birthday. Remembering what you wrote about how you would feel in time to come, i thought his remarks were apropriate:

    written by Kevin Crowe:
Ten years ago tonight our world changed forever. Ina and I walked the driveway, paced the living room, timed contractions, and eventually left our house at 1-something in the morning for the last time as non-parents. At 9:25 AM, 01/27/2002, Morgan entered our lives and it's been a wild ride ever since.

There was a time when I dreaded Morgan's birthdays because of the emotional roller coaster of reliving the moment the doctors uttered the words "Down syndrome". Today I can't help but chuckle at myself for feeling that way. Time is funny like that, I guess.

Happy birthday, Morgan. I am so proud of you!!

Comments from friends on FB about this post:

you, and Ina (Sydney too!) are a wonderful inspiration to us all. I'm so grateful Morgan has graced us all with her infectious smile and energy. She's a blessing to all who know her.

and this comment from another father:
Happy Birthday Morgan!! Kevin, we chuckle about similar memories with Abbey Rose, 12 now!

I hope this is encouraging to you. Morgan loves cheerleading, swimming, playing with iPhone--especially my taking videos of her cheerleading so she can watch herself! She is a joy to all who meet her. Your Jack will be the same.

Blessings to you and your family in this journey. This is one Nana who has walked that journey and knows how to pray for you and know that I am praying for you.

    Love thru Christ, Karen Crowe
